SPORTS DAY 2020
Once again, our school, SMK St Teresa had its annual Sports Day at Padang Jubilee. It was held on the 13th of March 2020, which is a Friday, the day just before the school break. The students and teacher arrived as early as 6.30 a.m., waiting for the exciting event that was yet to come. The day started with the 1500-metre race. The audience was amazed by our students’ outstanding speed. They were then presented with a well-organised march by all uniform bodies and sports houses as part of the Opening Ceremony. The expectant audience was then entertained with a fitness dance by the Fitness Club of SMK St Teresa. This was followed by the opening speech by our beloved principal Madam Mary John and later, a speech by the President of the Ex-Teresian Association, Madam Masnoon Bujang.
Our Sports Day was declared open with the striking of a gong by Madam Mary and Madam Masnoon. The athletes cheered on each strike to show how excited they were. This year’s races were divided into a few categories which were 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and relays ( 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m). The whole stadium was filled with the cheering of students, teachers and even parents. The event ended at 5 o’clock in the afternoon with the announcing of the results. Overall, the first place winner was O’Driscoll followed by Egan, Sylvia, Cheetham, Connaughton and finally Leitner.
Everyone was happy because winning or losing will never diminish or extinguish our students’ love for sports. The athletes’ ability to break the records from previous years brought a smile to both the teachers’ and parents’ faces. Hopefully, the students who are involved in this event can get enough rest during the one week holiday.Love and serve,
