The Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) program was held from 15 August 2023 till 24 January 2024, choosing SMK. St. Teresa as the participating school for the year 2023/2024, introducing our school’s team to a program schedule below. With a visit from TEY, the team held a meeting on 8 September 2023 with Mr. Ismail and Ms. Fiona and concluded to cut down on clothing waste in order to lower carbon emissions, which led to their program name, “High Fashion, Low Carbon”.

Mr. Ismail explaining about the program in the school’s Conference Room to the team.
With a vision towards a goal and hearts full of passion, the team collaborated with Sekai Bundle to pick up some imported clothing all the way from Taiwan and Japan. Next, they held meetings with the school’s Leo Club and UNIMAS lecturers for an agreement in partnership to contribute and participate in this program. Onto some hands-on activity next, the team designed a collection bin for St. Teresa’s students and parents to donate unused clothes with help from our Design and Technology subject teacher, Mr. Lim Horng Chyuan as well as a poster to distribute to schools and universities accordingly. For a few months, the collection bin was placed near the school’s front gate and ended with a successful outcome, with the bin almost full of donated apparels.
